If applicable, a 0.95% annual Segment Fee will be deducted from your annuity’s Base Segment Value daily which may result in the loss of principal. The Segment Fee is set at issue and guaranteed not to change for the life of the contract. This fee does not apply to values in the Fixed Segment Option. Segment Fee is reflected in report results.
Taking advantage of the unique characteristics of multiple Segment Options may be an effective way to achieve your long–term savings goals. While there are many ways to allocate your money, not all combinations of index options, term periods, and buffer levels are available. Your financial professional can help determine an allocation strategy that best suits your needs.
Segment Credit: The amount credited to each Segment Option according to the terms of the Segment Option and Crediting Method.
Segment Options: Segment Options include Index-Linked Segment Options and a Fixed Segment Option, each with a Segment Term Period. Each Index-Linked Segment Option will also have an Index or Indices, a Buffer Rate, a Cap Rate and a Participation Rate, or a Trigger Rate and may be subject to a Segment Fee.
Segment Term Period: Duration over which Segment Credits are calculated.
Participation Rate: A percentage that is multiplied by a positive index change, after the application of the Cap Rate, to calculate the Segment Credit. For Dual Direction Segment Options, the Downside Participation Rate applies to the absolute value of a negative index change that is fully offset by the Buffer Rate. The Downside Participation Rate is equal to the Participation Rate that applies to a positive index change.
Cap Rate: The maximum positive index change that will be used in the calculation of Segment Credits that may be applied to a Segment Option.
Trigger Rate: A rate used in the calculation of Trigger and Dual Trigger Segment Options to determine Segment Credits when index change is greater than or equal to a threshold specified by the strategy.
Buffer Rate: A level of protection from potential market loss up to a Buffer Rate. Losses in excess of the Buffer Rate will reduce your Base Segment Value.
Performance Blend: Performance Blend is a weighted average return of three different indices (SPX, RTY, MXEA) where at the Segment End Date, 50% of the index change used to determine Segment Credits is based on the return of the best performing Index, 30% is based on the return of the second-best performing Index and 20% is based on the return of the lowest performing Index. The Cap Rate, Participation Rate and Buffer Rate are then applied to this weighted average return.
Free Withdrawals: This annuity provides annual Free Withdrawal privileges. Beginning in the first Segment Year, you can withdraw up to 10% of your Contract Value on the Initial Segment Start Date without a Withdrawal Charge or Interest Adjustment. Each Segment Year thereafter, you can withdraw up to 10% of your annuity's Contract Value as of the previous Segment Anniversary without a Withdrawal Charge or Interest Adjustment. There is no Free Withdrawal during the time money is allocated to the Holding Account. Withdrawals of taxable amounts are subject to ordinary income tax, and if made before age 591/2, may be subject to a 10% federal income tax penalty. For surrenders or withdrawals that exceed the Free Withdrawal amount during the 6-year Withdrawal Charge period, a Withdrawal Charge and Interest Adjustment will apply. Withdrawals from an Index-Linked Segment Option before the Segment End Date will include an Equity Adjustment. The application of Withdrawal Charges, Equity Adjustments, and Interest Adjustments may result in the loss of principal.
Additional Withdrawal Provisions: This annuity includes a Confinement Waiver and a Terminal Illness Waiver if eligibility criteria are met. If requesting either Waiver, you’ll be eligible for up to 100% of your annuity’s Contract Value (which includes any applicable Equity Adjustment). Withdrawal Charges will be waived if you qualify for this benefit during the Withdrawal Charge Period. An Interest Adjustment will not apply to distributions made under these Waivers.
Withdrawal Charge: A Withdrawal Charge in accordance with the rate schedule will apply to surrenders or amounts withdrawn in excess of the Free Withdrawal amount as follows: 8%, 8%, 7%, 6%, 5%, 4%.
Annual Segment Fee: A 0.95% annual Segment Fee is deducted daily from each applicable Index-Linked Segment Option. The Segment Fee is set at issue and guaranteed not to change for the life of the Contract.
Registered index-linked annuities can only be marketed and sold by securities licensed financial professionals. They are designed to be long-term investment products used to help provide income for retirement. They are not suitable as short-term investments. There is a risk of substantial loss of principal and related earnings depending on the Segment Options to which the Purchase Payment is allocated. In the event of negative index performance, Segment Credits may be negative after application of the Buffer Rate and the Contract Owner bears the portion of loss that exceeds that rate.
Guarantees provided by annuities are subject to the financial strength and claims paying ability of the issuing insurance company.
