Here are seven steps to help you start creating a year-end checklist:

  1. Determine the level of sales you want to reach
It could be a number, dollar amount or both.

  2. Establish client contact points throughout the year
Keep in mind birthdays, anniversaries or significant upcoming events, such as a
    retirement.

  3. Continuously expand your knowledge of the products and services you offer
What's the newest solution for your clients? Are there new products or features that
may help them achieve their goals?

  4. Examine your prospecting process
Does it need to be fine-tuned? What kind of goals have you put around it? How
many people do you need to contact each week or month?

  5. Create a list of clients that are due for a review of their retirement goals
Establish a schedule for contacting them.

  6. Thank clients for their business
Recognition can come in many forms, including a card, email, call and video. Use a
combination to test and see what works best. Consider offering clients something of
value, such as a white paper or checklist. Athene’s “Help keep your retirement plans on track” white paper offers a helpful retirement timeline.

  7. Ask for feedback on the service you provide
This can be done by calling, sending an email survey or a mailed survey. You can
then follow up and ask for referrals.
